MOTHER

Nature connects me to the present moment. In turn, those quiet, mindful moments help me journey deeper into the sense that everything is connected. As I become more aware of this connection, I feel calm and my senses are magnified to acute perception. 

I notice my fingerprint lines. They’re not unlike the rings of a tree or the fingerprint of a koala. I’m only a human- one of trillions of species on this planet. I’m experiencing nature in a new way: I’m not as tangled in my egoic mind. As my awareness grows, it’s clear we’re inextricably connected - animals, humans, and plants – the collective that is our home. 

Initially inspired to create work that subtly embodies how the world has been casually *&^#@! and left behind, revealing the truth became my priority. I was inspired to illustrate nature in its most honest representation, the intelligent cycle that is everything – life, death, and rebirth.

I venture to uncover beauty in the ordinary.

Manipulating nearly all color images in this series to black and white, served as a way to submerge the viewer in simplicity – sometimes the most challenging objective to achieve.

I invite you to reflect inward. Feel a childlike awe for everything we’re made of and all of our surroundings. 

Let me guide you to see nature as our mentor. It just might change your relationship with the world.
